Wednesday, December 8th, 5-7pm
Come join us for a festive and fun evening of wreath-making and connection in Parker Clay's beautiful flagship location in downtown Santa Barbara. Jill Ellis, owner of Makeshift Studio, will provide instruction and a wide variety of seasonal fresh greens and florals so that you can take home a beautiful wreath for your front door. Wine, lite bites, and all supplies included.

Succulent Terrarium Workshop

Learn how to build a terrarium using locally-grown succulents in a modern geometric glass vessel. We'll cover helpful tips on plant selection, proper building techniques, design and composition, picking the right container and maintenance. You’ll leave with your creation, care instructions and all the knowledge you’ll need to recreate this project.
All materials (plants, geometric glass orb terrarium ($22 value), terrarium ingredients and added toppings) will be provided for this class. Please note, if you have a special memento that you’d like to use for this project, feel free to bring it with you!
You will be making a 7 inch geometric glass terrarium , able to plant 3-5 succulents within.
No experience necessary. Lite snacks and beverages will be served.

Succulent Wreath Making Workshop
January 2020
Come learn how to make your own succulent wreath that will make your friends green with envy. Jill Ellis of Makeshift Studio will show us how to design and assemble 12” grapevine wreaths using succulents, fresh cuttings and foraged greenery. Take home some new skills and a stunner for your door or mantle. We hope you'll join us for this special evening of crafting and community.

"Crafts & Coffee" Wall Weaving Workshop

OUR WEAVING WORKSHOP IS BACK!! And we're doing this one in the morning because "crafts & coffee" just go together. (So do "crafts + mimosas" but that doesn't sound as cute). MAKESHIFT will provide everything you need to make your own wall-hanging. You will learn how to set up your own loom, basic weaving techniques including plain weave, fringe, shag, soumak, Egyptian knots, interlocking, slits, creating basic shapes, free weave, and finishing techniques. Join the latest craze. Your walls will thank you.
No experience necessary.
Coffee, breakfast bites, and mimosas will be served.

Indigo Dying Workshop

Learn the traditional craft of dying with indigo, a natural, plant-derived dye that creates vibrant shades of blue. Participants will learn how to mix an indigo vat and the fundamentals of Japanese Shibori sytle pattern making. A silky rayon scarf, two tea towels and all dye materials will be provided. Feel free to bring up to two of your own items to dye as well!

Block Printing on Fabric Workshop

Learn to block print textiles by hand. Students will carve their own blocks to take home and will learn how to create simple and graphic patterns. Learn about ink, supplies and heat setting your fabric. We’ll be printing on tea towels and tote bags for you to take home. No experience necessary. Lite bites and refreshments will be served.

Jewelry Making Workshop

Tassels and gold chain and beads, OH MY! Join us at MAKESHIFT and we will provide you with all the goodies to walk away bedazzled in the latest jewelry trends. Learn how and make your own long pendent necklace with beautiful stone bead & gold plated chain, gold plated charms, natural stones, and tassels. Learn how to hand-stamp gold metal pendants and charms to make delicate, personalized necklaces and bracelets. Create a personalized charm bracelet and more. And learn the craft of soldering metal so your hard work stays together. No experience necessary. Light bites and refreshments will also be served.

We are excited to collaborate with Let's Do Math for a workshop you don't want to miss. An invitation for moms and daughters to bond over math and creativity, we'll explore patterns and create a variety of projects applying our new learning. Moms and daughters over the age of 4 are welcome to join us.
We'll provide all the supplies, plus snacks and drinks.
